Sungai Bukit Jernih, the secret recreational park near Mata Ayer, Perlis

The big and clear signboard welcome the visitors.
It is just beside the main road that can bring you to Padang Besar from Mata Ayer.

The mini road to the park is to pass by the lime stone hill, paddy field and villages.

The stones that block the flow of the water.

The sound of the flowing water is so relaxing.

There are big and old trees that are maintained at the both sides of the stream.

The park can be a perfect place for the photographic lovers.

The pave and the small bridge to facilitate the picnickers.

Trees that shade the park.

Travelling to Hatyai Airport via Padang Besar, Thailand side.

For the people of Perlis and northern Kedah, it is cheaper to travel to northern parts of Asia the fastest way without transit in Kuala Lumpur, as the nearest airport is at Hatyai and you will need to change flight at Don Mueang Airport.
Here is an alternative and cheapest way for those who love traveling. We recommend you Hatyai Airport, an hour journey from Padang Besar using alternative route avoiding Sadoa, Thailand (which is nearer to Bukit Kayu Hitam, Kedah CIQ).
You can just park your car at the Padang Besar CIQ which has spacious parking lot or you can park your vehicles at our homestays, take taxi to Padang Besar, stamp your international passport and take van at Thailand's Padang Besar to Hatyai.
If you are in hurry, and you want to charter the van, its cost is around 1,500 baht (at the time of this article written). It is cheaper if you travel in the number of 10 persons, because the van has 10 comfortable seats.
Here is the photos of how to get there.

Before caving, a short briefing on dos and don't s for the participants

Crossing the bridge from the reception counter

Rocky cave tunnel, here we come into...

It's a real hard work by the miners to dig into granite rock to make this amazing tunnel

We walked continuously until we arrived at an empty space and an underground lake inside the cave

The history that can be read by those who are able to cave around 200 metres into the earth

Unique mother nature preserved well in here

Another pit cave dug by the miners to mine for high quality tin

The equipments used by the miners still remain holding from cave ceiling

Never been seen outside - 'rabbit fur' fungi

Simple caving route that being explored and mapped by the forestry officers.

All participants took a break at a junction and enormous empty space in the cave

There's a place where you have to climb down deep in the earth

Walking in the small underground stream.

The shallow underground stream that guides you to the exit.

We are out at last, the bright sun light at the end of the cave.

The other end of the cave that is protected well with the iron grill.

Can't believe it, we came out from that cave which also flows the water to Gua Kelam stream.
All of the participants climbed the bank

The exit is right under the secret garden stairs.

The view taken from see tower (menara tinjau)

Here is the other end of Gua Kelam, or the Forestry Agency is transforming it into the 'Secret Garden'.

Unique decoration of the staircase.

There is a lot of 'amang' or the waste element of the tin mine activity could been seen at the campsite.
